This morning I was up very early and could not get back to sleep. This seems to happen a lot when I only have one day off from work. Anyways, after trying unsuccessfully to go back to sleep I got up and peeked outside to find that the clouds had left, revealing an almost full moon. So I hurriedly gathered my camera and jumped in the van hoping to find a good composition of a picture I have been trying to get for a long time where I use my big lens to bring the moon in very close making it look huge compared to an object on earth, but I never found what I was looking for. That's okay though, it was still a beautiful morning and I saw God in the sunrise. I also came back with this picture I posted here. So it was a great morning and glad I woke up, otherwise I would never have seen God.
Well the last couple days I have been fighting a sinus infection and haven't done a whole lot after work except to hold down my recliner. I just haven't had the energy to do more. Then last night I got home and was feeling a little better so I thought I'd go out and look for a good view of the full moon to try some new ideas out. Something I have been attempting to do for a while now, but something always seems to get in the way of my plans and wouldn't you know it, the clouds came rolling in and it looks like they're here to stay for the next few days. I guess there will be more chances so keep checking back. Some day I will get my chance.
Well, unfortunately I had to work my day job today and was unable to get out into the wilderness for an adventure, but I did get to have dinner at Jimmys restaurant for some BBQ ribs with some good friends of mine. And while there, none other than country music star Moe Bandy walked in with his entire band and sat down next to us. I didn't want to say anything because I figured he shouldn't be bothered while eating his dinner, but someone else spotted him so I told my friends who had no clue. One of them didn't believe me then Moe's wife got up and walked past, so I stopped her and asked her to tell him who was sitting next to her and she says well that's Moe Bandy and he still wouldn't believe us. Next thing I know Moe Bandy gets up, comes over and shakes my hand and says wow its nice to know someone as young as you who knows who I am. Then, turning to my friend asked him what do I have to do to get you to believe who I am show you my drivers license. I guess I don't always have to be in the woods to have a good day, but still it never hurts.
Finally, I was able to get away. So I headed for a place my dad had shown me many years ago. I have visited this place many times over the years, but have never been quite satisfied with the photos I came away with. It's a place with sheer jagged rock walls and a small creek and waterfall flowing through its center. A place of quiet solitude and majestic beauty that reminds me of the rocky mountains. Sometimes I go just to get away from everyday life for a while and recharge. With the snow on the ground its absolutely breathtaking. I came away with some great pics that I hope to get posted soon so check back often. I'm sure you will like them too. Do yourself and your family a favor this weekend and take a family excursion and see some of God's beautiful handy work. I promise you will not be disappointed.
Well, I had big plans for exploring an area that I thought would have some nice waterfalls to photograph. However, when I got home from work my daughter, SarahBeth, had other plans. She had been eyeballing a big hill close to the house for some sledding. So some arm twisting found me out in the snow acting like I was a kid again. I guess the snow and waterfalls can hold off till the weekend. We had a great time of it seeing who was the fastest. She won that one, guess I'm older now and the need for speed has died out on-line, or I'm just getting old. Anyway, we had a blast until I got so wrapped up in getting a good picture of her that I didn't even notice she was headed straight for me until I was plowed into knocking me and my camera gear into a snow bank. I decided then that it was time to head for the house for some hot cocoa. I think maybe I will work on some driving lessons tomorrow for her.
