            <description><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.wildernesswindowphotography.com/p559662236"><img src="http://www.wildernesswindowphotography.com/img/s3/v43/p863639200-3.jpg"/></a></p>]]><![CDATA[<p>~There are two types of swamps, forested and shrub swamps. <br/>~In the US swamps cover approximately 100,000 square miles. <br/>~The only continent that does not have wetlands is Antarctica.<br/>~An acre of wetland can store 1–1.5 million gallons of floodwater.<br/>~Swamps develop in moist climates.<br/>~ Wetlands can help to reduce the risk and severity of flooding by storing excess water and slowing the flow.<br/>~Although wetlands only comprise approximately 5 percent of the land surface in the United Sates, they are home to 31 percent of our plant species.<br/>~Swamps contain a natural filtration system that cleans the water even better than our man made factories. <br/>~Swamps are wetlands dominated by woody plants.<br/>~Louisiana contains approximately 40 percent of the coastal wetlands found in the lower 48 states, and about 80 percent of the wetlands lost.<br/>~Wetlands can be as biologically diverse as the Amazon Rainforest.<br/>~The largest state in the United States, Alaska, is 45% wetlands, a total of 174.6 million acres. 63% of the entire nation's wetland ecosystems are in Alaska.</p>]]></description>

Established by Presidential Proclamation on April 12, 1929 as a national monument and then on November 12, 1971 as a National Park.<br/>2. Arches National Park preserves over 2,000 natural sandstone arches, like the world-famous Delicate Arch, and Landscape Arch, as well as many other unusual rock <br/>formations.<br/>3. The park contains the greatest density of natural arches in the world formed through the forces of nature acting in concert to create the landscape of Arches.<br/>4. The average annual precipitation is 10 inches.<br/>5. There are 2,000 documented arches in the park.<br/>6. Arches is located in a high desert, with elevations ranging from 4,085 to 5,653 feet above sea level.<br/>7.
